On Tuesday, the Snapchat parent company introduced Spectacles 3, the latest model of its video-recording sunglasses now come with new 3D effects and an eye-popping price tag. The gadget, which can ship in the fall, however, is out there for pre-order now, retails at $380, more than double the price of the earlier version.

The move comes less than three years after the launch of Snapchat’s first pair initially offered in vending machines. Spectacles have been a viral hit; individuals waited hours to get them. In a video teased on social media, Snapchat teased the brand new special effects users can add to their “Snaps” with Spectacles. For instance, it showed videos overlayed with an augmented reality sting ray or bright pink bird.

The company informed it sees a future where computing, similar to augmented reality, is overlaid on the world around you slightly than only on a small display. Snapchat is well-recognized for its AR filters, which permit users to put virtual flower crowns and dog ears on top of images and videos.

Older versions came in shiny colors like orange and blue. However, the brand new model is available in black and “mineral,” a rose-gold shade.

But Snap could also be learning from its errors. Snap mentioned Spectacles 3 is a limited-version product, and it’ll produce much less of the new sunglasses than it has up to now.
